I have been on the market for an aw11 MR2 or a NA Miata. I found this pretty good condition car and think this could be the one.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
However, there is something suspicous about someone selling the car after only one month.
Anyone have any experiences with short term owners selling or maybe know the possible reasons..

I don’t see a link or a pic.
Someone selling the car after a month could be several reasons, such as
Purchasing was a poor decision in the first place, particularly an ill-advised financial move.
spouse or family doesn’t approve of the purchase, and forcing re-sale.
a big unforeseen change in the owner’s circumstances or financial standing forces sale.
it could be a flip, and the person bought it cheap, and is re-selling for more, or after a repair
the person has a propensity for buying and selling quickly to buy the next thing that catches their eye.
the car could be troublesome, somehow, or simply not something the owner wants to deal with, if they are not forthcoming about it, or evasive about the possibility of an independent inspection by a mechanic... I might start to suspect that they are hiding a fault with the car.

Could just be as simple as he needs money for something else, or has no place to keep it (like he lives in an apartment complex or something). Or, maybe a wife/girlfriend is giving him so much grief about two cars that he’s just getting rid of it?
I'd say take someone who knows Miatas with you (if possible) when you go look at it, just in case there's something wrong with it you might not realize.

If it’s on the up and up that’s a good price.

Uhh..kbb has the most excellent condition at $2500.
Edmunds is at $1500.
Are they wrong?

I saw you say 2200 and didn’t look at the Craigslist price. Yeah 4100 is high.

If the maintenance has been up kept, and the car is as well kept under the surface as it looks on the outside, 2200$ should be a really good deal.
A 93 would be an early car, with the 1.6 engine, rather than the later 1.8, but the difference is minimal... a little less low-RPM torque, a little sweeter of a high-RPM scream, but the car is light enough not to really notice the difference, and the difference isn’t very much.
If the timing belt service is done, the driveline fluids changed, and the clutch, brakes, or shocks done if they’ve needed it, and nothing seems left to decay, mechanically, the car should be solid. They are simple, reliable, light weight, and being light, they aren’t all that prone to excessively fast mechanical wear.
The interior and top can sometimes take the brunt of the sun, especially in California.
As long as you account for the “needs a new top” in the purchase price, it should be fine.
A Robbins top might be a worthwhile upgrade, anyway... or if you are really brave... delete/remove the folding top, and get a fiberglass hard top for the rainy/snowy-season.
It also depends on how badly the stock top is damaged. It might still be workable for a while, just not exactly water-tight in the rain, until you can get it replaced.

You win some you lose some. Trust me, as a Texan turned Northeaster, you’ll take anything over rust. Anything.

What would you say is a fair price for this car? I know his asking price is unrealistic.

Craigslist stuff all seems to be asking for the moon, likely planning on negotiating back from there. 2K-2250 is probably on the generous side of resale for an 1.6 NA in good shape, not perfect, and not a special edition (LE or M-edition, etc...) ... but Miatas are so good, that a good car will seem worth the money, and not regretting the purchase.
On the other hand, KBB, Edmunds, and other blue-book estimates go by market numbers, which can be statistically around the right general area, but can’t really take into account emotional desirability or likelihood of availability in a given condition... starting at 1500, and negotiating up to ~2K-2250 range would be good.
With top damage and body damage, even if both are minor, 4K is too much, and can get you a newer car without those issues.
The fact that the top can be replaced with available stock and aftermarket replacement parts, and the dent might be capable of being fixed with Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), is why this car might not be at the bottom of the price range. A shredded top, a fender that needs replacement rather than repair, and unknown or lack of maintenance would be a 1000-1500$ car.
sometimes the blue book estimates are a good baseline to refer to, but perhaps a low target for a nice car that I might not feel bad about paying a few more dollars for, if I know I won’t come across another in similar condition any time soon.
